: Greenway Park - Stratford Olympics 2012
With the 2012 Olympics looming and the main stadium rising at a phenomenal rate, development works have started to spread outside of the main complex area. Highlighted as having possibly 30% of all pedestrian foot traffic the existing public path from West Ham train station to the Olympic stadium was in need of serious renovation. Galvanised and Polyester Powder coated mild steel flat top fencing was supplied to replace the existing.
Working in conjunction with our client Littlewood Fencing we assisted in the development of a more flexible flat top fencing system than had been envisaged by the end client. Taking the designer's request for a minimalist approach we worked seamlessly around and with our client, Volker Fitzpatrick, Arup Consulting Engineers and the Olympic Development Agency to deliver a cost effective, visually "transparent" and secure walkway boundary. All mechanical fixing were Kept to a minimal and hidden where possible, and so as not to spoil the fluidity of the fence line all rail ends were radiused to allow maximum directional change with out the draw back of cumbersome lugs and protruding corners. Having built up the trust to liase directly with the end client and keep every one in the loop we managed to pinpoint and deliver the exact design required.
With approximately 2000 linear meters to erect our main goal after the final design approval was to get Littlewood Fencing on site fast and with a quality product. With stringent procedures we managed to supply and maintain the quality over a multiple of deliveries allowing our client a continued presence on site. Honouring all our other commitments we achieved balance of supply in little under 4 weeks which put our client ahead of the other trades on site.
