Case Studies
: Agden Reservoir Spillway - Sheffield
Working directly with the main contractor J.N.Bentley for Yorkshire Water, we secured the contract to supply approximately 400 linear meters of galvanised and Polyester Powder coated mild steel bespoke estate fencing. This was expected to complement major civil works, which included the completed renovation of the reservoirs vast spillways.
From the outset we worked closely to advise upon the required design. It became apparent that due to excavation works and hard landscaping issues the standard planted post type would not offer the required stability and coupled with the proximity of local residents we would have to look at a bespoke fencing system. In addition to this the local area fell under the protection of the Yorkshire Heritage and Wildlife Trust which required any design to have a certain level of empathy with the immediate surroundings.
We undertook a full site survey to ascertain the difference in ground levels and any areas which would test the fencing design and construction. This resulted in the supply of two differing styles of estate railings. The first design was of a fully welded construction for stability and featured a mesh infill that would deter climbing and the passage of small woodland animals. The second design was still significantly robust but a return to the more standard estate fencing style. Both types were fabricated with side fixing flange plates to allow bolting directly to the existing spillway walls.
As J.N.Bentley erected the fencing, we visited site to advise on the installation of system to achieve the best possible result.
